Hallstatt Day Trip
On the day of the trip, we'll leave Vienna and set off on a road trip that lets us take in the beauty of the mountainous Salzkammergut region.
After 3.5 hours on the road, we'll arrive in Hallstatt, a village in the Austrian Alps whose charm will win you over from start to finish. Did you know this village is said to have inspired the frozen kingdom in the movie Frozen? No surprise there, it's straight out of a fairy tale!
Together with our guide, we'll take a guided tour to learn about the village's 700 years of history. We'll stroll through its Alpine alleyways, which have witnessed great tragedies, and take a closer look at the architectural details of its houses and church.
Next, you'll have about 1.5 hours of free time to grab lunch and keep exploring the village.
To wrap things up, if you're visiting in summer, we'll say goodbye to Hallstatt with a relaxing boat ride on the lake. At other times of year, we'll visit the Bone House, located in the Chapel of St. Michael. Dating back to the 12th century, this fascinating attraction is known for its collection of over 600 artistically painted skulls.
Finally, we'll head back to Vienna by bus, arriving at the starting point about 13 hours after pickup.
Hallstatt and Melk Abbey Day Trip
With this option, we'll stop at Melk Abbey on the way to Hallstatt to take photos and admire one of Austria's most iconic monuments. This Benedictine monastery sits on the banks of the Danube River and was founded way back in the 11th century.
From there, we'll continue on to Hallstatt, where you'll have 2.5 hours of free time to explore this charming village at your own pace. This option includes a digital audio guide in English to accompany you as you explore.
In the afternoon, we'll head back to the meeting point in Vienna.
